My name is Li Ping Thong. I am a passionate digital media artist, lecturer and researcher based in the kick-ass city of Melbourne, Australia. I am a lecturer at RMIT University (Melbourne) for the Bachelor of Design (Digital Media) program, where I share my knowledge and love for all things digital media with my students in a variety of subject areas, such as interactive media, web/mobile application design, motion design and virtual reality.
My educational qualifications include PhD in Computing (Serious Games), Master of Multimedia (E-Learning Technologies), Bachelor of Multimedia (Film and Animation). My current research interests include serious games (game-based learning), digital media, virtual reality, interactive media and educational technologies.
I am an experienced digital media lecturer. As of 2017, I have 12 years of university teaching experience across Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia. It’s been a great experience! Over the years, I have learned how to adapt my teaching to suit different learning styles (there are contrasting differences in the learning styles of Malaysian, Vietnamese and Australian students!). Teaching allows me to share my passion in digital media with students, whilst also spend time experimenting/exploring creative possibilities of different digital media technologies.
I am currently available to supervise postgraduate students on creative digital media projects that overlaps with my research interests. I am also keen in domestic/international collaborations on creative digital media projects or research – so if I am the person you are looking for – drop me a line!
